All digital cameras have quality settings. Always shoot at your cameras highest quality setting. This gives your image the most pixel information possible for your camera and gives IAM magazine the most opportunities to scale and manage those images for our needs (printed materials need high quality images).

We will accept jpeg format but prefer tif format. Standards and restrictions on quality listed below. Any digitally shot images must be in pixel dimensions of no smaller than 1000×1400 at 72 ppi (vertical or horizontal) to achieve our minimum target resolution for a medium sized print quality photo. (See description below)

This scenario of 1000×1400 at 72 ppi size shot in a digital camera. The pixel image quality for IAM magazine’s best size could only achieve a resolution of 300ppi at dimension 3.3×4.6 inches in our printed form. If IAM magazine changed that same image to match our minimum resolution of 200 ppi the size of the same image we would get a 5×7 inch image at the 200 ppi quality. This is not an image (we) would likely use on the cover of IAM magazine.
